Applications are invited for a permanent post of a Data Librarian within UCD Library. The mission of UCD Library is to organise the University's information to inspire engagement and learning, to enable its use in promoting research and innovation, and to contribute to the preservation of Irish cultural heritage. UCD consists of 5 libraries, UCD Archives and the National Folklore Collection at UCD. UCD Library provides library and information services to UCD staff and students. UCD Archives and the National Folklore Collection at UCD house collections of national importance for use by the UCD community and external researchers. Following the launch of an ambitious new strategy, `The Library of the future https://www.ucd.ie/library/contact/strategy/ , UCD Library is currently undergoing a reorganisation of its staffing structure to enable the delivery of the strategy. This includes the formation of three new Directorates - Operations, Cultural Heritage and Collections & Digital Services. The successful candidate will be joining the Academic & Research Services Unit within the Operations Directorate in a period of change. The person appointed will demonstrate an enthusiasm for the changing information landscape and the ongoing development of library services including the implementation of new processes and services. UCD introduced a new Research Data Management (RDM) policy in 2020. The requirement for UCD researchers to manage and share research data will also increase as a result of current and emerging mandates from funding organisations. Working alongside colleagues in the Academic & Research Services team, this role will involve: coordinating and maintaining existing RDM services and developing new services; liaising and collaborating with other Library units, researchers across UCD's Schools, Institutes and other research areas, other research support partners (e.g. Research IT, UCD Office of Research Ethics, UCD Research, Corporate & Legal), and external users and agencies such as the HRB and SFI. The role also includes key responsibilities relating to the Irish Social Science Data Archive (ISSDA), including outreach and training, advocacy and promotion, and user and customer engagement. This post offers great scope for an individual to provide leadership in the development of this important and evolving service area, particularly through designing and delivering new services and supports. There will be some opportunities for skills development specific to this post and also in related areas to support the overall work of the Academic & Research Services unit. 95 Asst Librarian Ii\2013 Salary Scale €38,344 - €59,840 per annum Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
