
Business Development Manager - Intermediated Personal Lines

- Drive Profitable Growth: Take primary ownership for growing profitable RSA business with your assigned partners by maximising renewal retention and creating new business opportunities – including cross-sell, up-sell and the development of additional revenue streams aligned with the partnership’s objectives.
- Strategic Account Planning: Develop, agree and maintain comprehensive annual account plans for each partner, aligned to RSA’s sales strategy and growth targets.
- Governance and Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and lead robust governance frameworks including monthly stakeholder reviews and weekly trading-level engagements. Develop a deep understanding of each partner’s strategy, culture, customer base, key decision makers and business drivers, while ensuing they are equally well-informed about RSA’s value proposition.
- Account Delivery Leadership: Oversee the successful execution of account plans by coordinating efforts across internal RSA teams to ensure delivery against agreed service levels and performance outcomes.
- Sales Pipeline Management: Maintain a clear and active pipeline with each partner to ensure RSA achieves annual sales targets and strategic growth objectives.
- New Business Development: Lead the identification, planning and acquisition of new partnership opportunities to expand RSA’s Affinity portfolio in line with the wider distribution and sales strategy.
- Team Development & Coaching: Actively manage, mentor and support account managers and junior team members, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting their personal and professional growth.
- Continuous Improvement: Invest in your own development by continually advancing your sales capabilities, market understanding and application of best practices- leveraging RSA’s investment in your training to deliver exceptional outcomes.
- Compliance and Excellence Standards: Adhere to RSA’s standards of sales excellence, best practice processes and operational effectiveness, as well as all applicable legal, regulatory and group compliance requests.
- Accredited Product Advisor (APA) or Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP), Accredited
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven track record of delivering against sales targets and managing broker portfolios
- Experience in developing account plans, conducting broker reviews and broker training
- Strong business development mindset with the ability to identify growth opportunities, cross sell and drive broker engagement
- Structured thinker, comfortable interpreting data to identify trends, issues and opportunities.
- Capable of managing multiple accounts and prioritising effectively to meet deadlines and targets
- This role is subject to the Fitness and Probity Standards (“The Standards”), issued under Section 50 of the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 and any subsequent amendments. The role holder must ensure they are fully aware of the Standards and in a position to fully comply with them at all times.
- This role falls within scope of the Minimum Competency Code (MCC) and requires the jobholder to have attained or be working towards the status of ‘Qualified Person’ in the relevant function(s) e.g. personal lines, commercial lines and claims, or have attained a Statement of Grandfathered Status in the relevant function(s). A New Entrant working towards the status of ‘Qualified Person’ must be supervised by a Qualified Person or a Grandfathered Person. The status of ‘Qualified Person’ can be achieved through attaining the qualification of Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP), Accredited Product Advisor (APA), or Associate or Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII or FCII). The jobholder must also comply with all CPD requirements as outlined in the MCC.
- Maintain CIP accreditation status by completion of CPD requirements.
