The main knowledge, skills and experience required of the Civils Estimator are outlined as follows:
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or similar.
  • Proven capability in delivering winning, Civil Infrastructure and Non-Infrastructure Bids. Ideally has a background in the general Civils sector and experience of bid from opportunity identification through to bid submission, and will provide valuable input into opportunity qualification, win strategies, commercial discussions, and solution design (when required).
  • 5 years' experience of medium to large projects within the municipal sector.
  • Will be fully conversant with the competitive marketplace and possess sound commercial understanding and risk management skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate budgetary control.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:The main duties and responsibilities of the Civils Estimator are outlined as follows:
  • Support Business Development with pricing and estimating project cost, project risk and contingency.
  • Support the development of commercial documentation, process flows, strategy and improving the cost estimating approach for Glanua.
  • Create, manage, and control financial trackers, RFQs and estimating tools to assist Glanua in tendering, managing costs during the bid process and when assessing previous project historical data.
  • Undertake contract review from a commercial sense to identify, assess and report on specific commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Identify, analyse, and manage project commercial risk, keep the risk register up to date and report commercial risk updates as needed.
  • Undertake the lessons learned process on a regular basis and feed into continuous improvement.
  • Contributing to the written / technical proposal - both in terms of content and presentation
  • Ensuring timely delivery of compliant and commercially sound bids
  • Must be an excellent communicator.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, Project).
  • Ideally with Knowledge of Estimating tools (CCS, Conquest).
  • Assist in cost build-up and forecasting for projects.
  • Carryout commercial Bid Analysis of subcontract / supply prices.
  • Support others within the project on commercial and contract matters as required.
