One that develops commercial acumen alongside your technical skills?We're looking for undergraduates who can answer “yes” to the above for our 2024 Legal and General Investment Management (LGIM) Summer Internship scheme. If you're successful, you'll join Legal & General's well-regarded Investment Management business, which plays a pivotal role in our continued success.Starting Monday 1st July, your internship will last for 8 weeks. This programme is a pipeline for our Graduate Programme (although successful completion of the Summer Programme does not guarantee that a graduate role is available).Please note, we can only accept 1 application per person across all of our intern programmes. Therefore, please think carefully about the programme you intend to apply for. Your first application will be considered as your only application.#FutureTalentJob DescriptionYou will be assigned to one of our Distribution teams for your 8-week placement which run throughout July and August. You will also take part in an induction programme designed to introduce you to L&G and help prepare you for the remainder of the internship. Over the course of the internship, you will have the chance to interact with different teams, hear from senior speakers and network with your fellow interns. Some of the day-to-day activities you may experience might include:
  • Gaining an understanding of the various Distribution client bases
  • Learning about our sales strategies and product offerings
  • Experiencing how we build and manage client/stakeholder relationships
  • Assisting in query management and the preparation of presentation/pitch material
  • Collaborating with other internal departments / teams
  • Have guidance from your team and manager who will support you and teach you the day-to-day role
  • Be part of a big team and develop your collaboration skills
  • Have the opportunity to meet and network with new colleagues within your team, but also across the wider organisation
QualificationsFirst and foremost, we are looking for people in their penultimate year at university with an inquisitive mind and a desire to learn. We're not expecting prior industry experience, but we'll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:
  • On track for a 2.1 Degree in any subject - we are open to all subject backgrounds
  • In your penultimate of University (i.e. graduating in 2025)
  • Analytical mind-set
  • Great communication skills
  • Flexible and a team-player
  • High levels of energy, dynamism and commitment
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively

You will be screened at each of these steps. In brief our recruitment process will include:Our Assessment process typically involves the following stages, but may vary slightly from scheme to scheme.
  • Application form - Captures essential information and is an opportunity to provide your CV (completion of info to assess your eligibility based on Leaving Certificate grades/points and degree)
  • Online tests - includes multiple choice questions and a video interview. The online test asks a number of behavioural questions to help us understand more about candidates' strengths. There is also an analytical component which assesses numerical reasoning skills. In the video interview, we will ask 3 core questions focusing on motivation to join L&G, as well as the candidates approach to learning.
  • Assessment centre (either face to face or virtual) comprised of:
  • Interview - Conducted by 2 assessors, 45 minutes including time for questions from the candidate, questions include competency and commercial based questions
  • Presentation - 15 minutes in duration, 10 minutes to present and 5 minutes for questions from assessor
