Permanent RoleAn excellent opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Officer to join a leading international civil engineering and construction company renowned for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across water, energy, and transportation sectors.Due to continued growth and expansion, our client is seeking a proactive and motivated Health & Safety professional with some industry experience to strengthen their team. This is an excellent role for someone with 1–3 years of experience (or a strong graduate with relevant placements) who is eager to progress their career in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver site inductions and toolbox talks to employees and contractors as required.
- Conduct regular environmental, health, and safety inspections across site operations.
- Ensure compliance with all current legislative health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of statutory inspections for plant, fleet, equipment, and site activities.
- Keep training records for ongoing site activities current and compliant.
- Coordinate, prepare, and issue project-specific Health & Safety Plans as required.
- Support the implementation of the company’s Environmental, Health & Safety Statement and related procedures.
- Manage and submit statutory notifications to the Health & Safety Authority, including incident and accident reports.
- Attend and contribute to internal and external Environmental Health & Safety meetings.
- Verify that appropriate Personal Protective Equipment is available and correctly used.
- Review and monitor subcontractor Safety Statements and RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements).
- Assist and advise site management on drafting, communicating, and reviewing RAMS.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in safety culture across all projects.
- Relevant third-level Health & Safety qualification (e.g. Diploma / Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent).
- 1–3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within construction or civil engineering.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage site teams.
- Proficiency in IT systems and tools relevant to Health & Safety reporting.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
- Full, clean driving licence.
