Duties to include - The primary role of the Project worker is to support Gateway members to become active in the project. This is a developmental opportunity, on the job training will be provided. Working as part of a team, the Project Worker will support the day-to-day operations of the organisation. The Project Worker will report to the Project Coordinator, or in the absence of the Coordinator, the Development Worker. Gateway has a flexible working environment which could provide the Project Worker with opportunities to explore and develop peer support, group facilitation, outreach, administrative and IT skills depending on experience, interest and capacity. Project workers are mostly former Gateway members and identify as peers (with lived experience of mental health distress.) Gateway is a community-based, member and peer-led social support organisation for people with self-experience of recovery and mental health issues. Gateway works to promote positive mental health, recovery and social inclusion in the community. It was founded in 2004 upon community development principles of participation, empowerment, collective action and equality. Gateway has over 350 members living across the South Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare areas who work together for social support, positive mental health and recovery and to address experiences of stigma, social exclusion and inequality. Gateway is supported by a Management Committee and is a project of Mental Health Ireland. The Successful applicant will have: An empathic & friendly nature. Identify as a peer (someone with personal experience of mental health distress.)
