Main Duties and Responsibilities: The main duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Estimator are outlined as follows: Estimate Preparation: Develop detailed and accurate estimates for mechanical engineering works based on outline drawings and specifications. Ensure that estimates reflect a realistic level of risk and adhere to company guidelines and industry standards. Design Development Participation: Engage in the design development process to evaluate buildability, material selection, innovative solutions, and cost-effectiveness. Provide early-stage pricing information during tendering to assist in optioneering and budgeting, ensuring that the most cost-effective solutions are proposed. Risk and Governance Compliance: Ensure all procedures, including risk management and governance processes, are followed, thoroughly documented, and properly authorised. Tender Preparation: Contribute to the development of Tender Preparation and Tender Construction programmes. Collaborate with other functions to prepare a detailed staff schedule for tenders, using insights from successful projects. Procurement Planning: Work with central and regional buyers to prepare a procurement plan.
