- Oversee all core warehouse activities including goods-in, put-away, replenishment, picking, packing, and dispatch
- Manage daily workflows to meet branch replenishment schedules and customer delivery requirements
- Ensure efficient intake and processing of inbound supplier deliveries, including international shipments
- Optimise warehouse layout and storage solutions for a wide range of large and heavy products
- Maintain high standards across housekeeping, equipment maintenance, and operational efficiency
- Lead, develop, and motivate a team of warehouse operatives, supervisors, and support staff
- Manage workforce planning, attendance, and agency labour requirements
- Drive performance through coaching, reviews, and ongoing training initiatives
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Promote strong cross-functional collaboration across operations and support teams
- Ensure full compliance with all health & safety policies and relevant legislation
- Oversee the safe use of materials handling equipment and warehouse systems
- Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
- Partner with internal H&S teams to continuously enhance safety standards
- Maintain high levels of stock accuracy through cycle counting and audits
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies proactively
- Work closely with inventory and commercial teams to manage slow-moving or obsolete stock
- Support periodic and annual stocktakes
- Drive OTIF (On Time In Full) delivery performance across all channels
- Collaborate with transport teams and third-party providers to ensure efficient distribution
- Resolve operational issues quickly to maintain high customer service standards
- Support optimisation of the delivery network to improve efficiency and cost
- Ensure effective use of ERP and WMS systems to enhance productivity and accuracy
- Develop KPIs, reporting dashboards, and performance metrics
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse operations
- Proven experience managing a warehouse or distribution centre environment
- Strong leadership experience managing diverse operational teams
- Solid understanding of logistics, fulfilment, and distribution processes
- Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations within a warehouse setting
- Experience working with WMS/ERP systems and strong Excel capability
- Experience within building materials, trade distribution, or similar sectors
- IOSH or NEBOSH certification
- Exposure to Lean or continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence across multiple functions
- Hands-on, results-driven leader with excellent operational discipline
- Highly organised, decisive, and capable of performing under pressure
