- Provide tailored support to children with additional needs to ensure full participation in the early years curriculum.
- Work collaboratively with the room leader and early years educators to implement individual learning plans (ILPs).
- Support children’s emotional, social, and educational development through structured activities and play-based learning.
- Implement strategies recommended by external support professionals, such as therapists and early intervention specialists.
- Promote an inclusive environment that encourages peer interaction and engagement.
- Assist with personal care needs where required, ensuring dignity and respect for the child.
- Maintain records of progress and contribute to reports as required.
- Engage with parents and guardians, providing updates on the child’s progress and development.
- Adhere to all crèche policies and procedures, including child protection and health & safety regulations
- Minimum FETAC / QQI Level 5 in Childcare or equivalent
- Experience working with children in an early years setting.
- Understanding of the Access and Inclusion Model (AIM) and inclusive early years education.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with additional needs.
- Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
- Additional training in Special Needs Assisting (SNA) or relevant courses.
- Experience working with children with ASD, sensory needs, or other developmental delays.
- Knowledge of Aistear and Síolta frameworks.
