Our client is a well-established and reputable building contractor based in Galway, with a strong pipeline of residential, commercial, pharma and public works projects across the West of Ireland. Known for their commitment to quality, safety, and innovation, they are now seeking to appoint a dedicated Health and Safety Advisor to support continued growth and ensure the highest standards across all sites.The Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for advising on, implementing, and maintaining health and safety standards across multiple construction projects. Working closely with site teams, management, and external stakeholders, the successful candidate will ensure full compliance with all statutory obligations and company policies.Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor and enforce health and safety policies and procedures across all active sites.Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.Provide guidance, support, and training to site staff and subcontractors on best practices.Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act.Assist in the preparation of site-specific risk assessments, method statements, and safety documentation.Investigate incidents and near-misses, compiling detailed reports and implementing corrective actions.Maintain accurate records of safety performance, incidents, and training.Liaise with project managers, site supervisors, and regulatory bodies as required.Candidate RequirementsMinimum 2+ years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction industry.
A recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g. Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, NEBOSH, IOSH).In-depth knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and construction safety standards.Strong organisational, reporting, and communication skills.Full clean driver’s licence and willingness to travel between sites in the Connacht region.A proactive and pragmatic approach to problem-solving and risk management.What’s on OfferA permanent role with a respected local contractor.Opportunity to work on varied and high-profile construction projects.Competitive salary and benefits package.Supportive team environment with ongoing training and development.
