- The development and preparation of Transport Strategies/LTPs for large towns and Local Areas
- Leading multidisciplinary design teams and partners in developing transport networks for new towns, residential & commercial developments in accordance with DMURS
- The design & appraisal of Active Travel schemes (walking & cycling) in urban and rural environments including greenways (preliminary and detailed)
- The design of a number of significant bus priority schemes
- The design of various traffic management schemes (including environmental improvement and traffic calming schemes of towns and villages)
- Providing assistance/advice to other departments in DBFL (roads/highway design, street network design in accordance with DMURS, car park design, service access strategies)
- Providing transport related advice and services to support high profile clients in the development of large residential, commercial and educational developments including the development of major new towns and Strategic Development Zones
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong numerical skills and problem-solving abilities
- At least 3 years transport modelling experience
- A relevant engineering/planning degree and either hold or are working towards Chartered status
- Ideally hold a relevant postgraduate or Masters qualification
- Experience with the NTA RMS (Desired) or variable demand modelling
- Experience using any one or more of Cube, SATURN, Aimsun, Paramics, Vissum, Vissim, EMME ( 2 years exp with Saturn, Paramics, and 1 year exp CUBE, desired)
- Excellent analytical skills to inform decision making, including spreadsheet, data analysis (good Data analysis)
- Use and application of GIS Techniques to transport modelling outputs and analysis
- Experience working with complex datasets
- Qualitative & quantitative research skills
- Display a good understanding of design principles, national / local authority standards, technical guidance documents such as DMURS, DMRB, TII SRW etc
- Have multi-disciplinary design co-ordination experience and be able to present design solutions effectively & holistically within an overall project team
- Ability to mentor junior staff in developing their own technical expertise.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- Familiar with the preparation of proposals and tender submissions
- A current driver’s licence is desirable
