With a continued record of growth and stability, we're on the constant lookout for fresh talent to join our expanding teams.The Director of Pharmacy Actuarial Services will lead a newly formed team of actuaries and developers focused on modernizing and maintaining key forecasting models that support Optum Rx Pricing and Underwriting. This role involves close collaboration with U.S.-based actuaries and data analysts to ensure business requirements are accurately and promptly reflected in pricing tools used across all Optum Rx business. The director will be responsible for aligning technology solutions with evolving regulatory and strategic needs, enhancing user experience, and translating complex business requirements into actionable development plans.Success in this role requires strong leadership, deep actuarial and financial expertise, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across technical and business domains.Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.Primary Responsibilities:Ownership over the technical maintenance and enhancement of UW tools used to forecast pharmacy costs and rebates, including identifying opportunities for process efficiencies and potential solutionsCollaborate with U.S.-based tool owners to ensure tool functionality is appropriate, accurate, has an intuitive user interfaceEnsure continuity and connectivity with upstream and downstream tools where dependencies existKey thought leader in identifying technical tool solutions and approaches to reflect evolving internal strategies and external influences related to the pharmacy industryMentor and develop an elite team of actuaries and technical developers, by helping them create unique solutions to complex problems and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentTranslate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences including senior leadersYou will be rewarded and recognised for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role, as well as providing development for other roles you may be interested inRequired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) OR equivalent work experience
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland (FSAI) designation
  • Extensive experience working within Actuarial processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of concepts and methodologies within US health care
  • Proven management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in developing tools, machine learning models and performing statistical analysis in Python using analytical platforms (e.g. Databricks)
  • Experience leading projects in Underwriting and Pricing functions
