- The CNM 2 is responsible for ensuring that Beaumont hospital has a robust Major Emergency plan and Internal Incident Plan that is implemented and evaluated to ensure its effectiveness in an emergency situation.
- The CNM will provide strong clinical leadership to all staff involved in an emergency situation.
- The CNM will demonstrate excellent communication and will need to establish effective working relationships with all departments and staff within the hospital to support their preparedness in an emergency situation.
- The CNM will work with the Major emergency and business continuity manager to prioritise initiatives within the service.
- The CNM will conduct post incident reviews and evaluate actions, so to ensure continuous improvement.
- The CNM will act as a role mode and support real-time decision making during incidents, ensuring patent and staff safety.
- The CNM will work with the health and safety department, to support compliance with national standards and statutory requirements.
- The CNM will maintain reports and support the development of Quality improvement plans and develop local KPI’s for the service.
- Assesses and identifies training and development needs for all staff within Beaumont Hospital and sets objectives for such learning.
- Contributes to the development of training programmes and the role of out of any table top exercise, simulation training and IT modules.
- Participate in in-service education and represent Beaumont Hospital at local and nation level is required.
- Applies research findings, and participates in research as appropriate to support improvements within the services.
- Attends training as required and ensure evidence based practice and guidelines are maintained within the service
- Takes all steps possible to safeguard the welfare and safety of patients and staff by:
- Establishing management and clinical standards with agreed actions plans for all departments.
- Ensures the agreed hospital policies and procedures are known to and understood by the all staff.
- Monitoring and evaluating the outcomes post emergency events and maintains records of audits and improvement plans.
- Participate in JCI pathways and the development of new initiatives that support Beaumont Hospital to achieve JCI accreditation.
- Report into the Major Emergency Steering group and support management to action any issues that are required.
- Participates in budget planning and management of departmental and non-departmental resources.
- Actively pursues resource efficiency measures and Value for Money initiatives which contribute to the overall hospital budgetary and financial challenges.
- Oversees the allocation and management of resources, equipment and supplies to ensure the hospital is adequately prepared for emergencies.
