About the RoleA leading player in Ireland's renewable energy sector is seeking a highly experienced Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist to join their dynamic team. Based in Kildare, this permanent position reports to the Planning Programme Manager and plays a critical role in the successful delivery of EIA Reports and Appropriate Assessments for major renewable energy infrastructure projects.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the full EIA process for large-scale renewable energy developments, including the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) and Natura Impact Statements (NIS).
  • Provide expert environmental guidance to support planning activities and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in environmental and planning policy, contributing to internal strategy and policy submissions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholder engagement teams to support effective communication and consultation with local communities and statutory bodies.
  • Prepare and manage specifications for third-party environmental services and assist in procurement processes.
  • Ensure all activities align with relevant health, safety, and environmental policies, as well as national and EU legislation.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, particularly in areas related to EIA and Appropriate Assessment.
  • Actively contribute to performance management and continuous improvement initiatives across the planning function.
About YouQualifications & Experience:
  • Honours Degree (Level 8) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field is essential.
  • A postgraduate qualification (Level 9) in a relevant discipline is desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience leading the preparation of EIAR and AA/NIS for large-scale development projects.
  • Proven track record managing multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of EIA documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish planning law, environmental legislation, and EIA policy.
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector or Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) projects is advantageous.
  • Technical expertise in a relevant EIA discipline (e.g., ecology, noise, air quality) is a plus.
