- Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement of IPS policies and technical standards and procedures.
- Identifies opportunities to support internal reviews and training for education of IPS personnel, supply chain partners and/or application of lessons learned.
- Coordinates the collation of site safety statistics and manages reporting system.
- Supports the development of the Design Safety department, providing mentorship and guidance.
- Attends Safety Steering Meetings, reporting and sharing best practise on projects.

- Interfaces with client Project team and EHS SMEs to develop safety strategies, relationships, culture and approach throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assists design teams with implementing design safety on projects.
- Supports and facilitates the production of Design Safety focused project deliverables, to include:
- Project Safety Checklist
- Designer Risk Assessments (by Lead Engineers/Designers)
- Design Safety Reviews (Layout, Ergonomic, Machine Safety, Manual Handling, etc.)
- Preconstruction Safety Information and Preconstruction EHS Plan
- Country Specific Regulations List
- Ensures the discharge of PSDP/Principle Designer duties (or equivalent) under project site applicable CDM legislation, including the following:
- Attending client/design and site meetings
- Informing Clients of their duties,
- Ensuring or performing Statutory Notifications
- Collation of Safety Information and preparing project Health and Safety files.
- Facilitates Design Safety Workshop and Reviews
- Ensures timely and suitable/sufficient Design Risk Assessments are provided
- Works with Construction Management team to discharge the role of PSDP / Principle Designer on construction projects
- Ensures Temporary Works Designs are adequately prepared and reviewed.
- Assists construction project teams by supporting subcontractor prequalification, safety plan development and implementation.
- Performs construction project compliance inspections, tracking corrective actions, and provides project EHS regulatory guidance.
- Provides on-site support as required at EMEA project locations. Role is anticipated to involve travel for in-person facilitation of design safety reviews and construction site visit/inspections.
- Other duties as assigned to support Director of Design Management and the Senior Leadership Team.
- Interfaces with regional and global Total Safety teams.
- Degree level or higher qualification in Engineering or Health and Safety.
- Safety Qualifications such as CMIOSH or Cert IOSH, NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety Management, NEBOSH Construction Safety or SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely.
- A minimum of 5-8 years’ experience of advising clients or acting in the role of PSDP on client sites (manufacturing or construction).
- Technical Safety Training, such as Design Safety Reviews, Construction Regulations, Incident Investigation, Emergency Planning.
- Strong Knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) (Ireland) and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (UK) and Design Safety within process industries.
- A minimum of 10-15 years’ experience of Design and Construction Projects within the FCMG, Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry.
- Analytical thinking, structured problem-solving skills, superior communications skills, team building and strong work ethic. Must be able to build rapport with key stakeholders at all levels.
- Progressive ability, capacity and aptitude in administration to plan, organise, supervise, coordinate technical work and obtain cooperation from others.
- Ability to work on own initiative in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
