Senior Financial Accountant - Hybrid - Cork - PermanentJob Description:Morgan McKinley are delighted to be partnering with a leading organisation to recruit a technically strong and detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will support financial reporting and ensure a robust control environment, while maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial information. The successful candidate will also provide guidance on complex accounting matters in line with IFRS / Irish GAAP.Responsibilities:Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Lead the preparation of statutory accounts in line with IFRS / Irish GAAP
  • Provide technical accounting guidance on areas such as revenue recognition, leases, and provisions
  • Produce management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
  • Maintain and enhance accounting policies and internal control frameworks
Compliance & Financial Control
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a strong financial control environment, including balance sheet reconciliations and journal reviews
  • Act as the primary contact for external audits
  • Monitor and implement updates to accounting standards and regulations
Month-End & Financial Integrity
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of the general ledger
  • Review complex journals, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Support a timely and accurate month-end close process
Business Partnering & Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights and support decision-making
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiencies
Qualifications:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Experience in a Senior Financial Accountant or similar role
  • Strong background in financial reporting, audit, and compliance
  • Experience working in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS / Irish GAAP
  • Advanced Excel skills
