- Provide day to day support to operations for Automation and Controls components within the manufacturing process.
- Identify, evaluate & implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Provide Technical leadership to the wider engineering team in the field of process automation.
- Provides input and help in the selection of new technologies to improve plant efficiencies.
- Participates within project teams, provides technical support and makes informed decisions on hardware and architecture selection.
- Proactively resolve technical issues before they impact business priorities.
- Analyse, understand, fault-find and modify where necessary automation software in line with the sites quality management system.
- Develop, test and install control’s software as part of a highly automated and validated production environment.
- Develop and integrate software applications with automated equipment into existing business intelligence digital tools used onsite.
- Champion digital reporting tools and visualisations that are thorough, detailed and able to be comprehended by the end user
- Take ownership of the software applications and hardware used to house the sites digital business intelligence tools, ensuring optimum performance.
- Develop User, Functional and Detailed Design Specifications.
- Work within a cross functional multidiscipline team environment.
- Ability to use data and metrics to anticipate problems and make data driven decisions in response.
- Support process development and cost reduction activities within the business units.
- Provide guidance on integrating, testing, evaluating and modifying automated systems and seeing the process through from beginning to end.
- Provide on the job training/support to new team members.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Level 8 Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineer, Computer Science or related field with equivalent technical experience is required.
- Has minimum of 4-6 years, software and controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical solutions for complex problems through automation systems knowledge.
- Proven Project Management skills through the delivery of Automation and or Digitalisation projects.
- Strong technical background is essential for this role (PLC, HMI, Robotics, GAMP, GMP).
- Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens controls systems would be advantageous.
- Some experience of scripting programming languages would be advantageous.
- Some experience of Object Orientated Programming and SQL Server DB design is advantageous.
- Working knowledge of Ignition SCADA platform and Cognex vision systems is beneficial.
- Good knowledge of ISA95 and ISA88 design/implementation.
- Strong communication and influencing skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Capable of providing technical leadership, influencing and providing technical direction to Engineers, Technicians and team members as required.
- Capable of working autonomously or as part of a multi-disciplined team in an aggressive, dynamic and results motivated environment.
- A team player, with a flexible approach.
- Must be willing to source, investigate and implement technological and automation advances.
- Understanding of FDA, BSI and regulatory software validation requirements.
