Research Institute Director - Creativity Institute/Established Professor, Permanent, 1FTEFounded in 1845, the University of Galway has earned international recognition as a research-led university with a commitment to top quality teaching. The University of Galway seeks a visionary leader to act as Director of a newly established research Institute for Creativity. The Creativity Institute draws on the University of Galway's tradition of excellence in the broad area of creativity, while aiming to inspire and lead the development of exciting new multidisciplinary projects that will have an international reach and impact. The position of Research Institute Director runs for four years, starting no later than 1 September 2024, and is renewable for a second four-year term.
The appointment will be made at Established Professor level as a permanent appointment, and the successful applicant will also be affiliated with one of the seven Schools in the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Celtic Studies at the University. The successful applicant will have a sustained track record of inspirational leadership, especially in the development and management of multidisciplinary funded research projects.They will have a sustained and exceptional record of research outputs in an academic field related to the Institute's activities - which might include (but is not limited to) such examples as creative arts practice, creative technologies, Creative Industries, creative pedagogies, digital and computational humanities, creativity in public policy, and/or creativity and well-being. They will have extensive experience in building partnerships - both within academic institutions (in, for example, the creation of multidisciplinary teams) and beyond them (through the development of public engagement (through the development of public engagement activities, among other examples).The successful applicant will lead and implement the Creativity institute's first five-year strategy, will play a leading role in shaping the research culture of the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies, and will also make a substantial contribution to the academic life of the wider University.The post thus represents a career-defining opportunity for an ambitious leader to oversee a period of invention and investment - one that will shape the future of the University of Galway while also making a significant contribution internationally.Additional information on Research at the University of Galway may be found here: Research & Innovation - University of Galway

This appointment will be made on the Established Professor scale in line with current Government pay policy and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the University's Remuneration policy.
