Saint John of God Community Services, Liffey Services invite applications for the post of Senior Social Worker. This is a permanent full-time position.Senior Social WorkerPermanent Full-time PostThe role of the Senior Social Worker in St John of God Community Services is of one who directly works with adults with disability and their families to identify their strengths and support their needs in caring for the person with a disability. This includes carrying out assessments and interventions in the following areas: family and community support, carer difficulties, managing behaviours of concern, advocacy and assistance with entitlements. The Senior Social Worker will undertake Designated Officer training and undertake Designated Officer duties. The Senior Social Worker will work as part of an inter-disciplinary team.Requirements:
  • NQSW and BSc/MSW in Social Work or equivalent.
  • Must be registered with the Social Workers Registration Board at CORU and have a valid CORU registration number.
  • Minimum of two years relevant experience employed as a social worker working as part of a multi-Disciplinary team.
  • Ideally have experience working within the area of intellectual disability or a relevant field of practice.
  • Adequate training and experience to enable him/ her to carry out satisfactorily the duties of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of adults with additional needs.
  • Have own car and a full clean Irish drivers' license is essential.
  • The Senior Social Worker will take direct responsibility for a defined caseload as required / directed by the Principal Social Worker, in particular cases that require a high level of experience and expertise
  • Candidates must demonstrate competency in applying theory, legislation, knowledge and skills in Social Work within the intellectual disability sector.
  • Ideally have experience and knowledge in relation to Adult Safeguarding and Assisted Decision Making.
  • Candidates must also demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • It is critical that the selected candidate works effectively within a dynamic team environment using a person-centred philosophy.
  • Candidates are expected to work within their professional code of ethics at all times.
