- Develop, implement and maintain firm-wide pricing frameworks, guidelines and tools for legal services.
- Work closely with partners, client and markets group, finance and client development teams to evaluate new business opportunities, bids and proposals from a pricing perspective.
- Contribute to the development of pricing models (e.g., fixed fees, alternative fee arrangements, bundled services) for complex engagements.
- Analyse cost drivers, profitability metrics and margin trends to advise on pricing adjustments and service-pack offers.
- Monitor billing and pricing performance (e.g., realisation rates, discounting, write-downs) and report on key metrics with actionable insights.
- Provide training, guidance and policy oversight to fee earners and commercial teams on pricing practices and compliance.
- Support the development of business cases for new services or business models, including revenue forecasting and scenario modelling.
- Continuously benchmark against market/legal-services comparators to ensure competitiveness and commercial soundness.
- Drive process improvement, automation and data-driven pricing decision-making.
- Qualified finance professional (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Strong experience working in a professional services environment (ideally in a law firm or similarly structured services business).
- Proven track record of pricing, commercial analysis, profitability or business partnering in services sector.
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to interpret financial data and translate into commercial actions.
- Excellent commercial acumen and ability to influence decision-makers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills: able to engage with senior fee-earners, practice leads, finance and BD.
- Ability to develop and deliver pricing policies, frameworks and training.
- Competent with pricing models, financial modelling, scenario analysis and cost/margin management.
- Familiarity with the financial dynamics that exist in corporate law firm environment - for example, fee structures, realisation metrics, discounting practices.
- Proactive, forward-thinking with ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in a top-tier law firm or large professional services firm.
- Exposure to alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) and fixed-fee models in legal or consultancy settings.
- Strong Excel / BI skills; experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Experience working with legal practice management systems (e.g., Aderant Expert) or pricing optimisation tools.
- Change-management experience, particularly in rolling out new pricing tools/processes.
