Key Duties: - Assist with maintenance of colonies of bees - Assist with the assembly and upkeep of beehives to desired specification. - Support with installation of beehives. - Assist with the monitoring of hive activity (e.g. recording the number of adult bees in each hive and the number of eggs present) - Assist with feeding the bees when required. - Provide nutritional supplements to the colony during winter months if natural food sources are scarce. - Support with managing volunteers and volunteer database. - Inspect all equipment and advise of issues. - Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, hinges and door handles. - Painting of beehives. - Clean and maintain beekeeping equipment. - Attend appropriate training. - A desire to work outdoors is essential. Other Responsibilities: - General maintenance of property including repair of furniture and fixtures. - General painting and decorating. - Ensuring that all lighting electrical appliances are in working order. - Ensuring that all plumbing is in working order and carrying out basic repairs. - Assisting with maintaining a clean environment both inside and outside. - Using power hose/steam cleaner to clean external environment. - Emptying of bins and disposal of rubbish. - Maintenance of grounds and surrounding area.
