- Support and assist the Person in Charge (PIC) in managing the nursing home’s organisation, operations, and staff.
- Ensure high standards of person-centred care in a professional, respectful, and supportive environment.
- Act as the lead in the absence of the PIC, fulfilling responsibilities outlined in the Health Act 2007 and HIQA National Quality Standards.
- Provide clinical supervision, leadership, and mentorship to nursing and care teams.
- Maintain compliance with statutory regulations, best practices, and policies.
- Oversee safeguarding procedures, ensuring all concerns are reported and managed appropriately.
- Organise staffing levels, ensuring efficient workforce management and high standards of care.
- Support staff development, creating a positive learning environment and promoting continuous improvement.
- Act as a resource for nursing staff, staying informed about the latest developments in nursing care.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety policies, promoting a safe work environment.
- Be available for day, night, and weekend shifts as required.
- Registered Nurse with An Bord Altranais (active PIN required).
- Third-Level Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 6 years’ post-registration nursing experience.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a nursing home environment.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a management role.
- Post-registration qualification in healthcare management is essential (or willingness to complete).
- Post-registration qualification in Gerontology or Dementia Care is desirable.
- Current and valid certifications in Infection Control, Manual and Resident Moving & Handling, Medication Management, Dementia, CPR, and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (training can be provided if required).
- Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to motivate and support an effective team.
- Commitment to delivering outstanding care to older people.
