- Support the plant in meeting its quality, service, regulatory, financial, and safety goals through effective technical support of diagnostic products.
- Provide technical expertise to the manufacturing team to ensure production targets are achieved.
- Support the smooth transfer of new products from other Abbott sites into AIDD Longford in line with Q09 requirements.
- Assist in product development and improvement projects in compliance with Q04 requirements.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturing strategies related to Level III Complaint Investigations.
- Complete and document Technical Support investigations in accordance with site procedures.
- Design, manage, and validate process improvement projects.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to identify, document, investigate, and resolve product non‑conformances in line with the site CAPA system.
- Participate in laboratory maintenance activities, including instrument calibration, waste disposal, and reagent ordering.
- Present technical information clearly to team members and management.
- Assist in training team members and technologists as required.
- Update and circulate statistical process control charts, highlighting any issues.
- Ensure safety standards are met and safe working practices are followed, recommending improvements where appropriate.
- Identify and implement cost‑saving opportunities that do not compromise product quality.
- Escalate potential risks to product quality or safety to the Scientific Services Manager or Technical Support Team Leader.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality systems, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations.
- Liaise with colleagues in Lake County, Dartford, Delkenheim, and Japan as required.
- Maintain GMP and GLP standards.
- Assist in preparing the annual departmental budget.
- Participate in the AIDD Longford Self‑Assessment process.
- Support periodic review of controlled documents in line with site procedures.
- A third‑level qualification in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related discipline, providing a strong foundation in the scientific principles of immunoassays and the skills required to troubleshoot product issues.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in the development or support of diagnostic assays, or
- A relevant postgraduate qualification
