- Lead the development of novel coatings and surface treatments for medical devices, with a focus on biocompatibility, durability, and regulatory compliance.
- Drive material selection strategies for new product development, ensuring alignment with performance, manufacturability, and regulatory requirements.
- Design and validate test methods to evaluate material and coating performance under simulated use conditions.
- Manage and mentor a team of scientists and technicians, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with global materials teams to align on technology roadmaps, share best practices, and leverage cross-site capabilities.
- Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory affairs.
- Maintain awareness of emerging materials technologies and regulatory trends in the medical device industry.
- Contribute to intellectual property development and support regulatory submissions with technical documentation.
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in materials development for medical devices, including coatings and surface modification.
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and cross-functional projects.
- Deep understanding of biomaterials, polymer science, metallics, and surface engineering.
- Experience with ISO 10993, ASTM, and other relevant medical device testing standards.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in materials characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, FTIR, mechanical testing). Experience with Class II/III medical devices.
- Familiarity with regulatory submissions (e.g., FDA, CE Mark).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a global, matrixed environment.
