QC Microbiology Technician11 month contract roleOnsite in CarlowAn established life sciences organisation is seeking a QC Microbiology Technician to join its microbiology laboratory team. This is a great opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to gain hands-on experience in a regulated environment, supporting quality and compliance activities.Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine microbiological testing, including bioburden, environmental monitoring, water (WFI) sampling, endotoxin testing, and plate enumeration
Ensure all data and documentation comply with data integrity principles (ALCOA) and GMP requirements
Maintain a clean, compliant, and inspection-ready laboratory environment, following all safety and PPE guidelines
Support sample management activities, including handling, tracking, and storage
Assist in the preparation, review, and update of SOPs, training materials, and laboratory documentation
Identify and report deviations or non-conformances, supporting investigations where required
Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives within the lab

Requirements:

Degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific discipline
1-2 years' experience in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment
Good understanding of GMP/GLP and aseptic techniques
Strong attention to detail with good documentation and technical writing skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Effective communication and organisational skills

Desirable:

Previous experience in a microbiology laboratory setting
Familiarity with environmental monitoring, bioburden, endotoxin testing, and water sampling
