- To assist in the training of commis chefs.
- To learn & understand the kitchen H.A.C.C.P. plan
- To always work in a clean & hygienic manner
- To assist the head chef with daily ordering of foodstuffs.
- To input on menu planning
- To help maintain the team spirit
- To minimise wastage and assist in achieving the monthly food cost.
- To be responsible for the cleaning of designated work area in the kitchen before finishing shift.
- To operate any machinery correctly and ensure adherence to health and safety procedures at all times.
- To use all cleaning chemicals as directed.
- Where necessary to wear personal protective equipment when cleaning or operating machinery e.g. rubber gloves, masks, eye goggles, steel glove.
- To adhere to all recycling procedures within the department when disposing of all kitchen waste.
- All tasks to be carried out to Service Excellence standards in line with hotel policy.
- To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming at all times.
- To wear correct uniform and name badge at all times while on duty.
- To be present and punctual for all in house training programmes.
- To abide by the hotels health, safety and environmental procedures.
- To report any health, safety or environmental hazards within the hotel.
- To maintain a positive, friendly attitude with both hotel guests and your colleagues.
- To participate in all relevant internal training.
- Option of serving on committees within the Hotel.
- To be responsible for the routine cleaning of designated areas such as changing rooms and staff canteens when required.
- To provide an efficient and friendly service to guests at all times
- To follow the Mespil Hotel key standards at all times
- To provide a warm and friendly telephone service to guests
- To maintain a positive, friendly attitude with both hotel guests and your colleagues
- To abide by the hotels health, safety and environmental procedures.
- To report any health, safety or environmental hazards within the hotel
- To report any accidents, incidents and near misses that arise while on duty
- Wearing the correct uniform at all times while on duty
- Ensuring a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming at all times
- Attend relevant training courses as required.
- Serve on hotel committees when required.
- Carry out any other duties as directed by management.
- Assist in other departments when necessary.
- Contribute to the hotel's sustainability efforts by reducing waste, improving energy efficiency, and reducing water consumption.
- Experience from a similar style property or restaurant
- Experience in working in Teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
