On behalf of our client, a medical devices company, we are currently recruiting for an Environmental Health & Safety Officer. This is a full-time position based in Bray Co. Wicklow.Purpose of jobUsing the site specific EHS Management system, ensure that the company is in full and ongoing compliance with European and international environmental regulations. Ensuring compliance with relevant Health & Safety legislation. Developing, implementing, and improving the Health & Safety plans, programmes, and procedures on site.Role & ResponsibilitiesHealth & Safety- Manage the Site Health and safety System.- Assist in the review of raw material SDS for compliance and H&S impacts.- Carry out Risk assessments in conjunction with specific process and chemical area owners.- Report Loss Time incidents to the H.S.A.- Foster and advocate Safety First ethos on site.- Responsible for H&S training - First Aid, Manual Handling and other as appropriate.- Lead the site SERT members.- Assume responsibility of all Site waste streams.- New finished products/raw materials risk assessments and management of safety actions.- Spot checks for proper chemical management including periodic laboratory audits and Health & Safety system maintenance.- Supplier survey analysesEnvironmental- Manage the Site Environmental Health and safety System.- Complete the raw materials SDS assessments - Classifications/ Labelling per ECHA.- Ensure SDS are reviewed periodically for completeness, correctness & compliance.- Ownership and maintenance of environmental SOPs.- Monitoring & responding to developments under the following;o REACH, CLP,o SCIP / Microplasticso Substances of interest at European level - Focus on some SVHC substances: DMF, Glutaral & Leado Substances of interest at European level - Endocrine disruptors + Nanomaterialso Inventory of raw materials + management of raw materials Safety Data Sheets (SDS)o Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR)- Monitoring of purchases monthly to ensure compliance to CLP requirements regarding reporting to ECHA.Skills and Behaviours
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret technical data, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, and regulators.
  • Team player - ready, willing, and able to take direction and receive constructive feedback.
  • Show a willingness and ability to collaborate with and influence others in a positive, team-based environment.
  • Self-motivation with strong work ethic and organizational skills and ability to prioritize, schedule and plan.
  • Ability and willingness to engage with Lemgo and Stago systems and personnel.
Qualifications
  • A degree in a Health and Safety is preferable.
  •  3 years + industrial experience, ideally in the diagnostic/medical device/pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated competence in environmental regulations involving chemicals.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 would be advantageous.
