- Maintain the existing safety management system in accordance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 to ensure that the policies and procedures are consistent with applicable legislation, Westerwood Global and Customer’s best safety standards and identify areas of improvements to implement new safety programmes for maintaining, enhancing, and fostering a 'zero incident' safety culture and to reflect continuous improvement initiatives
- Demonstrate leadership and a strong desire to protect our employees, our business and the environment leading with a safety-first mind-set
- Compile and maintain the environmental, health and safety legislative register and ensure the company’s compliance with all relevant legislation and best practices
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits, report findings and ensure closure of audits
- Report to the Head of Operations the EHS KPI’s and concerns on a weekly and monthly basis
- Attend quarterly engagement meetings and communicate safety updates and ensure employee’s concerns are addressed on-site and implement suggested improvements as appropriate
- Ensure employees are identifying and reporting hazards and near-misses and communicate the findings and preventative actions to all employees
- Conduct and assist in incident and accident reporting, identify the root cause, and implement corrective actions within a timely manner to prevent the re-occurrence of incidents. Responsible for reporting to and dealing with Health and Safety Authority and EPA as required
- Provide support for any external audits
- Document and follow - up of medical treatment required for occupational injuries and illness
- Responsible for all ongoing in-house training including manual handling, chemical awareness etc.
- Conduct Health and Safety Induction for all new hires across all sites
- To undertake any other duties required associated with Health and Safety matters to meet the needs of the business
- Performing safety checks in line with process specifications
- Using MS Office and in-house computer system as required
- A minimum level 7 degree in Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety
- 2-3 years' experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 and OSHA 18001:2017
- Manual handling instructor’s qualification is desirable
- First Aid Qualification is desirable
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Ergonomic experience is desirable
- Flexibility to travel on short term assignments related to the role
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft office
- Ability to work in a controlled cleanroom environment, which will involve the wearing of a gown and relevant personal protective equipment
- 100% compliance with all safety and protocol specs and regulations
- Have strong physical stamina to have the ability to stand, stoop, walk and reach for the duration of an 8-hour working day (breaks excluded)
