Start location Killarney - working also from Killorglin Hub.*Please note, the above Roster may be subject to change due to the operational requirements of the service*The Role:A typical day will include transporting the individual to his community base and supporting him to carry out his identified activities and goals. This is a lone working post, therefore experience working with behaviours that challenge would be an advantage. The position would suit someone who enjoys the outdoors and walking whilst working at the person's own pace.The core activities for the post of Support Worker will include planning and setting goals with the person to assist them in meeting their personal, social, recreational, academic, independent living, community integration, training and supported employment needs.
As a Support Worker you will enable the people we support realise their goals and achieve their identified priorities. You will also provide support and act as an advocate for participation and inclusion in the community on behalf of the person we support.
The Support Worker operates within the framework of a person centered approach and actively engages with and promotes co-operation and partnership with other services, both internally and externally and in particular with families.
Essential Criteria:
QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support. Equivalent qualifications to Healthcare support will be considered, with a minimum of 1 years relevant experience working with Adults with an Intellectual Disability.
Applications will also be considered from candidates who have successfully completed at least 1 years of their Nursing or Social Care studies.
Experience of working in a care delivery capacity, preferably within a disability service.
Experience of supporting people in the Community.
A full drivers licence with access to a car insured for business purposes is essential.
Must have a person centred approach.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and must be able to work on own initiative.
Good IT skills desirable.
