This is a full-time position working an average of 42.5 hours per week, 5 days over 7, including weekends and public holidays. The role may evolve to 3 days Checkout Management and 2 days HR/Admin support.Main Duties:Overall management of a busy checkout departmentSupervision of a team of 8-10 staff on dutyRostering for a team of approximately 25, including supervisory staffQueue management and ensuring excellent customer serviceEnsuring all staff have the tools required for their roleCovering tills during peak periods and supporting the customer service deskOverseeing the store end of home delivery operationsDepartmental housekeeping and adherence to relevant legislationStaff training, development, and mentoringAssisting the store manager in other areas as requiredRequirements:Minimum 2 years' experience managing a busy checkout team in a retail grocery environmentExperience with till/cash register systemsStrong people management and leadership skillsExcellent communication, organisational, and multi-tasking skillsExperience in staff training and developmentAbility to remain calm under pressure and deliver excellent customer serviceFlexible to work early starts, late finishes, and weekendsFluent in English, both written and spokenAble to work independently and as part of a teamBenefits:Free parkingGroup Health Insurance (reduced rates)Group Pension SchemeExcellent training and career development opportunitiesStaff Reward & Recognition initiativesEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP)
