As a Deputy Portering Officer, you will be an integral part of the Portering team, reporting to the Portering Officer/Facilities Manager. Your role will involve proactive delivery of Portering services, prioritisation of tasks for clinical department efficiency, and management of staff training in line with hospital policies.Salary and Benefits:
- Salary: €50,000 per annum
- Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday with Saturdays on rotation
- Annual Leave: 30 days
- The successful candidate will work closely with the Portering Officer to develop and maintain best practices in managing the Portering Department.
- Key responsibilities include updating policies, procedures, and systems to support the department/hospital needs, ensuring all KPIs are met, and standard operating procedures are adhered to and updated as required.
- Management of the Portering Application and daily supervision of the portering team to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Prioritisation of portering requests, processing of fortnightly payroll, and management of mandatory training requirements for all staff.
- Maintaining effective communication with hospital Heads of Departments and reporting any health and safety issues using the Datix System.
- Compliance with all statutory legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures.
- Operational support including management of specimen, medicines, and portable gases transportation.
- Administrative duties such as processing wages, updating SOPs, and ensuring up-to-date KPIs and reports.
- Health, Safety, and Wellbeing compliance, including reporting incidents and compliance with hospital safety plans.
- Participation in accreditation/quality assurance activities and various hospital committees.
- Proven experience in a similar role within a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to providing high-quality service.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and hospital policies and procedures.
