This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for an experienced nursing professional to lead and support the delivery of high-quality patient care within the pre-operative assessment service.The successful candidate will play a key role in clinical leadership, patient assessment, service coordination, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care within a dynamic hospital environment.
ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the nursing supervisor and clinical operations team to ensure efficient patient flow and service delivery.Maintain and communicate accurate bed status, ensuring real-time visibility for all relevant stakeholders.Monitor, analyse, and forecast admissions, discharges, and bed utilisation trends to support operational planning.Participate in service planning, implementation, and evaluation, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.Oversee resource management, including staffing allocation, quality audits, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs).Provide regular reports on bed and resource utilisation to senior management, using data to inform decision-making.Allocate patient care based on acuity levels and staff competencies, ensuring optimal skill mix and safe care delivery.Lead and coordinate bed management strategies, including forecasting meetings, winter planning, and discharge optimisation in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.Support strategic planning and financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and implementation of electronic bed management systems.Demonstrate strong leadership and professional standards, ensuring compliance with policies (e.g. infection control, GDPR, JCI), supporting staff development, and maintaining proficiency in relevant IT systems such as Meditech.RequirementsHold a Degree in Nursing with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).Possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute hospital setting.Have at least 2 years’ management experience in a healthcare environment.Demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills.Exhibit excellent IT proficiency, including the use of clinical and administrative systems.Show the clinical, managerial, and administrative capability to effectively perform the role.Demonstrate the ability to lead clinical practice and drive service quality improvements.Promote and apply evidence-based decision-making in clinical and operational settings.Exhibit strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and manage staff.Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.BenefitsFully funded private health insuranceHighly competitive salaryEmployer pension contributionsRelocation supportSubsidised parkingEducational grantsContinuous professional development opportunitiesExcellent career progression opportunitiesDiscounted healthcare for employees and their immediate family
