  • Oversee the daily operations of the Day Care Unit, ensuring efficient patient flow and service delivery.
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing and support staff.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care in line with best practice standards.
  • Coordinate and manage patient admissions, procedures, and discharges within the unit.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and manage staffing levels, skill mix, and rostering effectively.
  • Support staff development through training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality improvement, and risk management.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and proper use of healthcare information systems.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in audits, quality assurance programmes, and accreditation processes.
  • Manage resources, equipment, and supplies within budgetary limits.
  • Handle patient and family concerns, ensuring a high standard of communication and care.
Requirements
  • Be registered on the General Division of the register of nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and hold a current NMBI PIN (essential).
  • Possess 3–5 years post-registration experience in an acute healthcare setting (essential).
  • Have a minimum of 1 year’s experience in a Day Care Unit or similar acute setting (essential).
  • Demonstrate at least 1 year of management or supervisory experience (essential).
  • Have completed a recognised management training programme (desirable).
  • Demonstrate strong clinical competence and professional credibility.
  • Possess good IT skills with proficiency in relevant healthcare systems and applications.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • Be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive in approach.
  • Show proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide evidence of ongoing commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Demonstrate the ability to liaise and collaborate with staff at all levels across the organisation.
