- Oversee the daily operations of the Day Care Unit, ensuring efficient patient flow and service delivery.
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing and support staff.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care in line with best practice standards.
- Coordinate and manage patient admissions, procedures, and discharges within the unit.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and manage staffing levels, skill mix, and rostering effectively.
- Support staff development through training, mentoring, and performance management.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality improvement, and risk management.
- Ensure accurate documentation and proper use of healthcare information systems.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in audits, quality assurance programmes, and accreditation processes.
- Manage resources, equipment, and supplies within budgetary limits.
- Handle patient and family concerns, ensuring a high standard of communication and care.
- Be registered on the General Division of the register of nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and hold a current NMBI PIN (essential).
- Possess 3–5 years post-registration experience in an acute healthcare setting (essential).
- Have a minimum of 1 year’s experience in a Day Care Unit or similar acute setting (essential).
- Demonstrate at least 1 year of management or supervisory experience (essential).
- Have completed a recognised management training programme (desirable).
- Demonstrate strong clinical competence and professional credibility.
- Possess good IT skills with proficiency in relevant healthcare systems and applications.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and staff.
- Be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive in approach.
- Show proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Provide evidence of ongoing commitment to continuous professional development.
- Demonstrate the ability to liaise and collaborate with staff at all levels across the organisation.
