Assistant AccountantOur client, a leading global water and environmental solutions organisation, is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their growing finance team based in Claregalway. This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly established and expanding finance function in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Supporting the Finance Manager and Finance Director, you will play a key role in delivering accurate monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and group reporting. With continued business growth, system improvements, and a strong pipeline of expansion, this role offers excellent exposure, progression opportunities, and the chance to take on increasing ownership within a collaborative and supportive team.RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Assist with month-end processes, with the opportunity to take ownership of reporting to the corporate team over time
  • Post accruals and prepayments, ensuring all supporting documentation is maintained
  • Complete bank reconciliations and maintain the fixed asset register, including depreciation postings
  • Reconcile monthly intercompany balances across group entities
  • Prepare detailed balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with internal and external audit processes
  • Maintain and report on intercompany loan balances and interest payments
  • Perform cash reconciliations across multiple payment methods
  • Process Accounts Payable transactions and support payment run preparation
  • Support data migration and system implementation following the rollout of a new finance system
  • Contribute to process improvements within a growing and evolving finance function
REQUIREMENTS
  • Currently studying IATI / ACCA / CIMA (or planning to commence)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with a particular focus on reporting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational, planning, and time management abilities
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Motivated, proactive, and improvement-focused mindset
