Six Health Regions have been established within the HSE, on the basis of the geographical boundaries agreed by the Government in July 2019 and they will be operational from 2024.Each Health Region will be tasked with population-specific planning resourcing and delivery of health and social care services for the needs of its unique population. The HSE will retain a strong but leaner central organisation, with more service provision developed at a local level.The HSE South West Health Region will manage and deliver all public health and social care services in Cork and Kerry. The aim is to deliver a universal health service that offers the right care, in the right place, at the right time.Emergency DepartmentThe Emergency Department is managed operationally and professionally by the Assistant Director of Nursing in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Manager 3 collaborating with the Emergency Department Consultants. There is provision for 24/7 CNM2/Shift leader cover. The hospital provides a safe, effective, efficient pathology service on a twenty-four/seven basis to patients in Kerry, parts of Limerick and Cork.Reconfiguration of Services Cork & KerryThe Reconfiguration roadmap was published on the 22nd November 2011. It outlines a plan of how, why and where we deliver our acute hospital services. The roadmap provides for the first time in this region, a plan that has been agreed between all six acute hospitals on how services should be re-organised in order to ensure the best possible healthcare system for people in Cork and Kerry.Care is delivered in a variety of settings and new approaches and models of care to follow the care demands of the health service are being advanced within the context of overall healthcare reform, to include Sláintecare.Purpose of PostThe appointment of the Clinical Nurse Manager II (OPAT) is an essential element in the provision of effective, high quality, integrated care for patients needing IV antimicrobials outside the Acute Hospital. The purpose of the role is to identify suitable patients, support and educate patients and carers, liaise with all stakeholders regarding service provision and to co-ordinate/ lead weekly clinic follow up.They will employ the core concepts of the their role to provide a person centred, specialist nursing service to all patients needing IV antimicrobials whose discharge from an in-patient setting may be facilitated with the support of the OPAT service.They will provide a collaborative link to achieve integration between primary care and secondary care providers. The Clinical Nurse Manager II role calls for flexibility and adaptability, and an ability to prioritise and take initiative.The Clinical Nurse Manager II will facilitate the roll-out of the OPAT programme throughout the hospital.
