In collaboration with our client, a well established food manufacturer, we are seeking an Assistant Quality Manager to join their team in Co.Louth.Reporting to the Quality and Technical Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the company's food products are top-notch in quality and safety. This role will also assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management Systems that meet industry standards and regulations.Working Week: Rotates 5 days over 7, and requires availability of 1 Saturday per month.Full time, permanent position.Salary is dependant on experience, approx €35-€40k.Responsibilities:
  • Help develop and put into action quality control procedures for raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods.
  • Regularly inspect and audit to ensure quality standards and hygiene rules are followed.
  • Team up with production teams to maintain quality standards and solve any quality-related problems.
  • Supervise site cleaning staff, ensuring they follow the schedule and work closely with the Quality Coordinator.
  • Keep precise records of quality tests, inspection outcomes, and any corrective actions taken.
  • Create detailed reports on quality measures, issues, and trends for the Quality Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on food safety laws and ensure the company follows them.
  • Help prepare for external audits and work with regulatory agencies when necessary.
  • Work with the procurement team to approve suppliers/vendors based on their adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Evaluate supplier performance through audits and suggest improvements.
  • Take part in analysing the root causes of issues and implementing actions to improve product quality and production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with teams to encourage continuous improvement and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Train production staff on quality procedures and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of quality throughout the organisation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or Agricultural Science.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in quality assurance or quality control in the food production industry.
  • HACCP certification; Train the Trainer certification is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Confident and decisive with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
