Our people play an important role in working with our business to set the standards on compliance and provide advice and guidance across a range of matters, objectively report on our status, engage with regulators and help ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of our compliance and risk controls.What you'll doThe role is for an accomplished senior compliance professional experienced in financial services and technology to lead Stripe EMEA's Regulatory Affairs and Compliance Programs.Reporting to the Stripe EMEA Head of Compliance, the roleholder will ensure that Stripe continues to promote a culture of compliance by managing the entity's regulatory compliance programmes effectively in line with regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations.The roleholder will run programs for regulatory compliance (for all areas outside of financial crime) for Stripe EMEA, coordinating across key stakeholders and ensuring that Stripe meets the applicable legal and regulatory requirements.The roleholder will represent regulatory compliance matters before the Stripe Audit and Risk Committees and will be a key liaison with the CBI and the FCA. In carrying out this role, the roleholder will work collaboratively with many internal stakeholder teams across the business.Responsibilities
  • Ownership of key aspects of Stripe's regulatory compliance programme, including:
  • Maintaining a deep understanding of the compliance obligations and supervisory expectations;
  • Leading Stripe regulatory affairs programme, including engaging on a broad range of matters with the CBI; the FCA plus other regulators;
  • Leading key Compliance programmes including: Compliance Risk Assessment; Regulatory Change Management; Conflicts of Interest; and Fitness and Probity programmes;
  • Coordinating maintenance of Stripe's Compliance Policy and Frameworks;
  • Reporting compliance matters and metrics to Stripe management and Audit and Risk Committees;
  • Assisting with cross-functional compliance issue management and remediation projects; and
Creating compliance training materials and carrying out training for Stripe EMEA's business and functional teams.
^Represent Compliance at Stripe's Management forums;Effectively communicate compliance-related topics internally to cross-functional stakeholders including at working, executive, and board level.Be willing to take on regulatory positions in line with the role (e.g. Control Function) and comply with applicable fitness and probity requirements.Skillfully represent compliance related topics externally before regulators and partners.Who you areWe're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role.   • A deep understanding of the regulatory compliance issues that an entity like Stripe faces.
  • 10+ years of experience in working as a senior compliance professional in the financial industry, preferably in fintech/payments and with European-wide scope.
  • Extensive experience of building and/ or leading Regulatory Affairs and Compliance programmes;
  • A proven ability to build strong working relationships with industry counterparts, regulators, partners (both at a local and international level) and at board level.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Well developed analytical and decision making skills with a keen sense of how to develop and articulate clear logic for decisions and policies.
  • An ability to find solutions to complex and hard problems and ability to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into solid action plans.
  • The horsepower to work in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment and to balance multiple priorities and workstreams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - including the ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders across the business.
  • Ease and experience in working in technology driven environments.
  • Exceptional people management skills, in the details of things that matter, and capable of leading teams by example through time-sensitive and high-pressure issues, and building high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills including an ability to convey a compelling vision for compliance and risk.
Hybrid work at StripeOur Chicago, Dublin, and Singapore teams spend at least 50% of their time in their local offices. We will apply the insights gained from these initial three locations to continue refining our hybrid approach.Pay and benefitsThe annual salary range for this role in the primary location is €106,000 - €159,000. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role's On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant's location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process.
