Health & Safety OfficerWe are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join our client located in Kells Co Meath. This 12 month Fixed Term Contract role is vital in promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture within their manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements, driving best practice in health, safety, and environmental standards, and supporting continuous improvement across all operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental (HSE) legislation, including the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections across production areas.
  • Develop, implement, and review safety procedures, SOPs, and safe systems of work.
  • Monitor the use of PPE and ensure safety signage and procedures are in place and followed.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, recommending corrective and preventive actions.
  • Deliver induction training and regular toolbox talks for employees and contractors.
  • Maintain H&S records, including incident logs, training registers, reports, and audit findings.
  • Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to resolve safety issues effectively.
  • Lead emergency preparedness efforts including fire drills and first aid response plans.
  • Liaise with external bodies such as the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) when required.
Key Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation.
  • Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and investigations.
  • Excellent communication, training, and reporting skills.
  • Manual Handling / First Aid / Fire Safety Instructor certifications would be desirable
