Role OverviewOur client is recruiting a Consultant ENT Surgeon on a temporary contract. The candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality, specialist care in the diagnosis, management, and surgical treatment of disorders of the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. The role combines clinical care, leadership, teaching, and service development within the HSE.Key Responsibilities1. Clinical DutiesDiagnose and treat ENT conditions (e.g., hearing loss, sinus disease, head & neck cancers)Perform elective and emergency ENT surgeriesManage outpatient clinics and inpatient careParticipate in on-call rota for ENT emergenciesCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs)2. Surgical ResponsibilitiesConduct procedures such as:Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomySeptoplasty and sinus surgeryMicrolaryngoscopyHead & neck oncological surgeryEnsure adherence to best surgical practices and patient safety standards3. Leadership & ManagementLead and support ENT service delivery within the hospitalSupervise NCHDs (Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors)Participate in clinical governance and audit activitiesContribute to service planning and improvement initiatives4. Teaching & TrainingProvide teaching and mentorship to junior doctors and medical studentsSupport training aligned with Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland standardsEngage in continuing professional development (CPD)5. Research & AuditParticipate in clinical research and quality improvement projectsConduct audits to ensure compliance with national standardsContribute to evidence-based practiceQualifications & RequirementsRegistration as a specialist in Otolaryngology with the Irish Medical CouncilCompletion of higher specialist training in ENT (or equivalent)Fellowship (e.g., FRCSI or equivalent) desirableDemonstrated experience in ENT surgery and patient managementStrong leadership, communication, and teamwork skillsSkills & CompetenciesClinical expertise in ENT and head & neck surgeryDecision-making in complex casesCommitment to patient-centered careAbility to work in high-pressure environmentsTeaching and mentoring capability
