ROI Commercial Finance ManagerRole Introduction:Established in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US in both large-scale Motorway Service Areas and Travel Plazas, as well as smaller petrol stations. The business has grown to over €3BN in annual revenue, operating 600 Motorway Service Plazas and forecourt sites internationally and employing over 17,000 people.Applegreen is in a rapid growth phase and to support this ambitious growth, we are seeking to onboard a Commercial Finance Manager to join our team as the result of an internal promotion.This role will form part of the ROI Commercial Finance team. The Commercial Finance Manager is a key business partner responsible for driving commercial performance, supporting strategic investment decisions, and providing robust financial insight across the organization. This role will lead the development of business cases for the Investment Committee—including but not limited to new sites, redevelopments, M&S, Coffee and car wash investments—and will track the financial performance of these projects post–go‑live. The Commercial Finance Manager will also play a central role in the long‑term planning cycle, including the 5‑year strategic plan.Key Responsibilities:As Applegreen expands, the responsibilities will evolve and change over time. The core responsibilities will centre around the following areas:Key Responsibilities1. Investment Case Development
  • Lead creation, modelling, and presentation of investment business cases
  • Provide projections, scenario analysis, sensitivity modelling
  • Present findings to Investment Committee
2. Post–Go‑Live Performance Tracking
  • Maintain performance tracking models
  • Report actuals vs business case and recommend actions
3. Long‑Term Financial Planning
  • Lead input into 5‑year plan
  • Support scenario modelling and capex forecasting
4. Business Partnering & Commercial Insight
  • Act as trusted advisor to cross‑functional teams
  • Support pricing, margin optimization, and commercial reviews
5. Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Produce monthly performance reporting
  • Analyse revenue, cost, margin trends
  • Standardize templates and review processes
Skills & Experience
  • Accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
  • 7+ years of Commercial finance or similar experience
  • Strong financial modelling skills and scenario analysis skills
  • Business partnering experience — ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders with clear commercial insight
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills — capable of distilling complex data into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills — able to present financial information to non‑finance audiences
  • Understanding of revenue drivers, profitability analysis, and margin optimisation
