Are you a Quantity Surveyor who would like to play an integral role on exciting mechanical engineering projects?Rockwell are seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join our growing and dynamic team on a fulltime and permanent basis.About the RoleReporting to the Estimating Manager and Commercial Manager, the Intermediate Quantity Surveyor will work on our key projects. This role will be supported by and offer support to the wider QS team.Rockwell Engineering’s headquarters are based in Cork City, working at this location, as well as other locations, on occasion will be a requirement of this role.Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:Project Analysis:- Assist the wider QS team with reviewing and analysing project specifications, drawings, and related documents to understand project scope and requirements.Cost Estimation:- Assist with the preparation of precise and details cost estimates for Mechanical and HVAC projects.- Gain hands-on experience utilising and developing estimating software and tools to ensure accuracy in cost calculations.Bid Preparation:- Work closely within the QS/Estimating team to develop comprehensive and competitive bid proposals.Vendor and Subcontractor Management:- Assist the wider QS team with sourcing and evaluating potential vendors and subcontractors for cost competitiveness and reliability.Continuous Improvement:- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and new technologies affecting Mechanical and HVAC systems.- Continuously refine and improve estimating processes based on feedback and lessons learned from completed projects.Collaboration and Communication:- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Project Managers, Engineers, and Procurement, to ensure seamless project execution.- Communicate effectively with clients and subcontractors to address queries and clarify project details.About YouThe ideal candidate will be organised and efficient, pay strong attention to detail and be a good communicator.You Will:
  • Possess a relevant 3rd level qualification in Quantity Surveying, or a related field
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience, particularly within the commercial and industrial sector
  • Have an interest in working within the Construction industry
  • Have strong commercial awareness
  • Be comfortable in your use of Microsoft Office, with the ability to generate detailed monthly reports
  • Be conscientious, have excellent attention to detail and an ability to multitask
  • Have a positive attitude with a passion to learn & succeed, an energetic approach and an ability to take accountability
  • The ability to contribute comfortably as part of a team
