YMCA Dublin provides after school activities to young people aged 5 years - 18 years. To increase accessibility of these services, YMCA Dublin is seeking to fill a Community Employment Driver position who will drive to partner schools and agreed locations, and collect the service users to bring them to the YMCA Hubs. The driver will also complete collections and drop offs as required for services and events throughout the year. Key Responsibilities: Collections and drop offs of local children & young people as each service requires. Positive engagements with young people and children and ensure they have a positive experience while transporting to/from the service. Carrying out safety checks on all internal and external aspects of the vehicle. Ensure the vehicle is clean internally and externally, cleaning regularly. Preparing the vehicle for the annual car test. Assisting in room set ups prior to service provision, where needed. Completing ad hoc maintenance tasks in both DeVerdon and Parkside Hubs including but not limited to; plumbing, painting, carpentry, & electrical. Routine inspections of both DeVerdon and Parkside Hubs. Complete deep cleaning tasks as required. Community Employment Programme Overview: This is a three-year phased Community Employment (CE) Scheme role designed to provide participants with meaningful work experience, on-the-job learning, and accredited training to support progression into long-term employment or further education. The programme includes: Year 1: Health & Safety training (manual handling, first aid, safeguarding awareness). Passenger transport responsibilities (duty of care, customer service). Accredited driving and maintenance training. Year 2: Intermediate driving qualifications, independent route planning. Maintenance training courses could include - Safepass, Tiling, Painting/Decorating. Year 3: Opportunity to work towards a larger vehicles licence. Job readiness training - CV preparation & interview practice. Participants receive continuous support, supervision, and mentoring throughout the programme to help build skills, confidence, and readiness for future employment. Employment Details: Hours: 19.5 hours per week (part-time) Schedule: Term time: Monday - Friday: Afternoons 12pm - 4pm. Flexibility required outside of term time, eg: Half Terms, Easter & Summer. Hours may differ during school holidays. Location: Dublin 13 & Dublin 17. DeVerdon Place as primary location with Parkside as second working location. Support: Access to training and employment support. Eligibility: Applicants must be eligible for Community Employment under DSP criteria Personal and Professional Attributes: Holds a valid and clean drivers licence (Categories B-D) Time Management Good communication skills Great interpersonal skills Ability to engage and work well with adults, young people and children alike.
