Through our unique combination of household heroes and energy assets, we’re at the heart of the energy transition in Ireland, strengthening the country’s energy security and helping customers get ready for a net zero future.About the Role:We’re seeking a highly motivated GIS & CAD Technician to join our dynamic Environment and Planning team.This role is ideal for someone with strong GIS skills who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.As a key member of the team, you’ll be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality drawings, figures, and maps using GIS and CAD software. You’ll support a wide range of requests from across the Assets Development team, contributing to the successful delivery of environmental and planning projects.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform core GIS tasks including data preparation, collection, analysis, and output generation.
  • Create maps and conduct spatial analysis using ArcGIS Desktop/Pro software and data collection equipment.
  • Support planning, project due diligence, feasibility studies, and site selection appraisals.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and project documentation.
  • Maintain and enhance GIS databases, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Liaise with data vendors and ensure high-quality data management.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of BGE’s GIS platform.
  • Stay up to date with emerging GIS technologies and identify opportunities for innovation.
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum of 2 years’ industry experience in a GIS-focused role.
  • A third-level qualification in Geographic Information Systems or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Desktop/Pro and extensions such as Spatial Analyst, Insights, and Dashboards.
  • Excellent understanding of cartography, georeferencing, and coordinate systems.
  • Experience in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of GIS software.
  • Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD or similar) desirable.
  • A full driver’s licence desirable.
