- Administer the client payment cycle up to and including the Final Account and Project Change Account to maximise income, achieve the required margin, and maintain optimal cash flow.
- Proactively manage sub-contract accounts from project startup to final account, ensuring accurate reporting of liabilities and making payments in accordance with contractual and legal requirements.
- Interpret and enhance the Project Team’s understanding of contract conditions related to key provisions, including the rights and obligations of all parties involved.
- Establish and maintain contemporaneous records in line with project systems to document progress, delays, and controlled change management, contributing to event registers and entitlement documentation.
- Gather elemental costs and measurement information to aid in the accurate assessment of project financials.
- Engage in Monthly Project Reviews and Work Package Management Reviews, clearly identifying cost-saving opportunities for improved project delivery.
- Provide support aligned with the commercial management strategy and offer advice to Commercial Managers and Project Teams on relevant commercial topics.
- Develop and maintain beneficial relationships with clients, project teams, sub-contractors, and suppliers to enhance collaboration and project success.
- Evaluate commercial processes and procedures to ensure they support Alstom’s commitment to continuous improvement and best practices.
- Comply with and promote all relevant Environment, Health & Safety responsibilities and participate in regular safety briefings, logging close calls and safety conversations.
- Experience working in the contracting commercial department is highly desirable
- Provide guidance on Quantification, costing of construction works and task elemental cost analysis.
- Experience of construction industry standard forms of contract and commercial terms.
- Working knowledge of Planning and the use of programmes in the management of construction works.
- Provide guidance on the determination of scope of work through the interpretation of the contract documents.
- Experience of tendering and pre-contract cost analysis
- Knowledge of risk identification, the use of risk registers and how risk is managed.
- Appreciation of conflict avoidance, management and dispute resolution procedures.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Able to communicate clearly within Project peer groups.
- Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
- Working on Target Cost or Design and Construct contracts.
- Knowledge of accounting concepts.
- Appreciation of Health, Safety and Sustainability matters relative to industry.
- Graduate or Affiliate membership recognition by a Quantity Surveying institution, working towards a higher-level professional qualification and maintaining required professional logs / records.
