- Preparation of Flood risk assessments, flood relief optioneering and scheme development reports and Concept Design Reports.
- Preparation of Detailed Designs including detailed design drawings, calculations and reports.
- Preparing Technical Specifications and Contract Documents for main works and investigation contracts.
- Undertaking and leading Tender Evaluation and Procurement processes.
- Preparation of Hydrological and Hydrogeomorphology assessments
- Preparation of Water Framework Directive Assessments
- Preparation of Hydrology chapter for Environmental Reporting such as EIARs, ERs etc
- Preparation of all Hydrological and Hydrogeomorphology documentation required for statutory approvals such as planning permissions.
- Construction stage contract administration.
- Developing detailed project plans, including budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
- Leading and managing engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered within budget and on schedule.
- Collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure project compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Providing technical expertise and guidance to project teams, including junior engineers and support staff.
- Performing site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, quality, and adherence to specifications.
- Preparing and reviewing technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Monitoring and controlling project costs, including tracking expenses and managing change orders.
- Identifying and mitigating project risks and implementing effective risk management strategies.
- Fostering effective communication and collaboration among project team members and stakeholders.
- Maintaining a culture of continuous improvements across all aspects of the working environment and projects.
- Training will be provided to fulfil the requirements of your role, your participation to all essential training will be required.
- To ensure maximum flexibility and to reflect the Company's evolving needs, additional tasks and responsibilities will form part of this role as it evolves.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline (Master's in Water Resources, Hydrology, Hydrogeomorphology, or Flood Risk Management advantageous).
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in flood risk management and drainage engineering, covering feasibility, detailed design, planning, procurement, and construction contract administration of flood relief projects.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working on Local Authority and/or OPW-led flood relief projects or equivalent.
- Comprehensive knowledge of flood risk management principles, hydrology, and drainage design standards.
- Proficiency in hydraulic modelling and design software (e.g. HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, Flood Modeller Pro, or InfoWorks ICM).
- Experience in preparing environmental and statutory approval documentation including FRAs, WFD Assessments, and hydrology chapters for EIARs.
- Working knowledge of Public Works Contracts and other forms of construction contracts.
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects from concept through construction.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, allocate resources effectively, and deliver to deadlines.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and across disciplines.
- Flexibility to travel to project sites as required.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) with Engineers Ireland or equivalent professional body is desirable.
- Full clean driving licence.
