Responsibilities:While leading/mentoring the Engineering groupThis exciting leadership role will execute Continuous Improvement productivity gains while championing an industrial engineering approach through line balancing, layout, process flow, material management processes together with the MSA Operating System and industry best practice tools as 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa Diagrams, Poka Yoke, PFMEA, Kaizen, 6s, SPC & Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, VA/VE, Gemba, DFMAResponsible, through the Engineering Group, for the technical support and maintenance of the SMT, taking responsibility for the complete setup of all New Products into the Galway plant. Be responsible for delivering first time Pilot Builds while programming all boards on all SMT equipment including Stacker, Destacker, Printer, Pick&Place x 3, Oven and AOIKey enabler/doer/mentor of Continuous Improvement initiatives not only on the Production Floor but throughout the entire Operations group of EHS, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, FacilityMaintain Test and Manufacturing technical support on the Production Floor including SMTMentor and coach the Engineering Group through regular check-in’s on career gap analysis and Development Plans.Focus on machine and test system uptime and efficiencies while owing Tester improvement roadmapWork with government agencies (eg: IDA) to maximize funding around Automation etcManage Factory PMProject Manage NPI technology transfers into GalwayDelivery productivity gains and target EHS through innovative automation utilizing CapExFacility management and capital expenditure for both the building and all assets withinOperational Efficiency
  • Mixed Model manufacturing line capacity optimisation and constraint management
  • Conduct time studies, define manufacturing costs and develop/implement/maintain work standards and manufacturing documentation
  • SMT uptime, technical support, maintenance and programming for NPI
  • Process equipment uptime and effective TPM implementation
  • Test equipment optimisation and uptime management
  • Support right first-time assembly and test activities through jigs, fixtures, tools and poke-yoke solutions
  • Maximise SMT line OEE
  • Time standards measurement, adoption, review, monitoring and improvement
  • Delivery productivity gains and target EHS through innovative automation
  • Focus on machine and test system uptime and efficiencies while owing Tester improvement roadmap
Manage/Lead/Mentor Engineering Group
  • Manage, Mentor and coach the Engineering Group through regular check-in’s on career gap analysis and Development Plans.
  • Report KPI to site Leadership and externally within MSA
Continuous Improvement & Cost Reduction
  • Working with the CI Site Leader, lead the identification, scoping, and execution of projects to reduce product manufacturing costs collaborating with associates, supervisors, engineers, managers
  • Support the MSA Operating System at Galway (Daily Huddles, Gemba Walks, Problem Solving Tools, Action Tracker adoption)
  • Execute projects and coach as needed who guides and teaches others the Six Sigma DMAIC approach and the application of effective lean tools

Facility Management & Capital Expenditure
  • Ensure the day to day running of the facility to the comfort of all its users
  • Maintain, Improve and Renew the infrastructure of the building, all manufacturing-based assets including manage relationships with all contractors
Qualifications:Required
  • 10 years hands on Industrial Engineering and 3 years people management experience
  • Leading and facilitating workshops/improvement activities in a manufacturing environment and delivering savings
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience in managing/developing people and influencing different levels of management
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Techniques (Value Stream Mapping, One Piece Flow, Setup Reduction, Visual Controls.
  • Proven ability to simultaneously and independently manage multiple tasks, solve technical problems, lead projects and work effectively in cross functional teams
  • Keen willingness to learn. Excellent leadership skills, organizational and multi-tasking skills, ability to coach and develop associates by providing feedback

  • Experience with advanced manufacturing applications such as: robotic cells, collaborative robotics, autonomous guided vehicles, additive manufacturing, vision
  • New Product Industrialization (NPI), Design-for-Assembly / Manufacturing (DFM/A), · Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE)
Education/Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering
