
Engineering Manager

- Lead with a strong safety-first mindset, promoting health, safety and environmental excellence across all engineering and maintenance activities.
- Manage, coach, and develop a multi-skilled engineering and maintenance team, building strong internal capability.
- Plan, oversee and optimise all preventative and reactive maintenance activities to minimise plant downtime and ensure operational continuity.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, implementing Lean Six Sigma, 5S, and best-practice engineering standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, safety, HR, finance, and project teams to deliver effective engineering support.
- Support capital projects, long-term asset strategy, contractor management, and plant upgrades.
- Monitor and report on KPIs, maintenance performance, and ensure strict compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Control engineering budgets, optimise resource allocation, and contribute to strategic planning.
- Proven engineering management experience in a heavy industrial or heavy plant environment, ideally unionised and safety-critical.
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a similar Engineering Management or Senior Maintenance leadership role.
- A recognised qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a Fitter trade background with demonstrated leadership progression.
- Strong leadership, team development, and communication skills with a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning, asset management, and engineering compliance.
- Practical understanding of engineering legislation and modern maintenance methodologies (e.g. RCM, TPM, CBM).
- Proven track record in delivering capital projects and managing third-party contractors.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
- Certification or practical experience with Lean Six Sigma, or a demonstrable track record in driving continuous improvement initiatives.
