Pay Scale: Grade IVWe are recruiting a Payroll Officer to support a busy payroll function. This role involves end-to-end payroll processing and pension administration, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery in line with current legislation.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess payroll from timesheets through to bank file submissionReview and amend timesheet entries and manage new startersAdminister deductions, expenses, tax updates, and statutory reportingPrepare and submit PAYE Modernisation and Enhanced Reporting Requirement returnsRespond to payroll queries and calculate pay adjustmentsComplete month-end payroll proceduresPrepare SPSPS pension scheme annual statementsMaintain strict confidentiality and compliance with statutory requirementsProactive, organised, and detail-orientedAdditional InformationWillingness to undertake further training as requiredTravel between locations may be requiredThe PersonEducation & ExperienceIPASS qualification or relevant experience in a busy payroll departmentMinimum 2 years' experience processing payroll from timesheets to bank file submissionKnowledge & SkillsKnowledge of the Core payroll system an advantagePublic sector payroll experience desirableExperience with PAYE Modernisation and SPSPS pension scheme advantageousStrong IT skills, particularly with computerised payroll systemsExcellent attention to detail and strong numerical abilityAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAttributesFlexible and able to manage competing prioritiesStrong problem-solving skillsProactive, organised, and detail-oriented
