We support customers across Europe, North America, and Asia, delivering tailored engineering services that drive long-term success.NeoDyne is seeking a highly experienced Automation Engineer to support one of our key client sites on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work closely with the NeoDyne team and play a critical role in delivering automation expertise across the Dublin based site.As an Automation / PLC Engineer, you will act as a technical owner for defined automation systems within a regulated manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for supporting these systems through their full lifecycle — from day-to-day operational support through to upgrades, optimisation, and future technology integration.This role combines hands-on technical work with structured ownership, requiring close collaboration with operations, engineering, and vendors to ensure systems remain robust, compliant, and fit for purpose.Key Responsibilities
  • Act as system owner or deputy system owner for assigned PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
  • Take responsibility for system reliability, availability, and performance in a live production environment
  • Lead or support troubleshooting of complex automation issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Own and support automation system changes, upgrades, and optimisation activities
  • Maintain control of system configuration, software versions, and technical documentation
  • Support formal change processes and contribute to investigations related to automation systems
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and maintainability
  • Support new equipment, process, and technology introductions, including engineering and commissioning activities
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders on automation-related activities
  • Promote safe working practices and adherence to site regulatory and EHS requirements
Required Experience & Skills
  • PLC platforms: Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) and/or Siemens
  • HMI / SCADA systems supporting manufacturing operations
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Automation, Electrical, Controls, or related engineering discipline
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g. life sciences, medical devices, semiconductor, or similar advanced manufacturing sectors)
  • Demonstrated experience taking ownership of automation or control systems in a production setting
  • Strong troubleshooting capability across PLC, HMI, and SCADA layers
  • Comfortable working in structured environments with formal change and documentation requirements

  • Batch or recipe-based control systems
  • Industrial communication networks (e.g. Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, DeviceNet, ControlNet)
  • Familiarity with ISA-88 / ISA-95 principles
