Offer DescriptionPost SummaryThis Research Fellow (Postdoctoral Researcher) position is part of the EIC project, HYPERSONIC (HORIZON-EIC-2023-PATHFINDEROPEN-01), which aims to develop scalable, solution-processed 2D materials and covalently interconnected networks for next-generation electronic applications. The position will be based in TCD, in the School of Physics and the CRANN and AMBER Research Centres (Coleman labs).Prof Jonathan Coleman FRS is a senior professor in the School of Physics and the AMBER Research Centre. He leads a large research group which investigates solution processing of nanomaterials, especially 2D materials such as graphene and MoS2. The groups activities range from liquid exfoliation to printing to materials characterisation to electrical and device properties of printed films.Standard Duties and Responsibilities of the Post
  • Perform research pertinent to the HYPERSONIC Project: e.g.
  • Conduct exfoliation of 2D materials (e.g., MoS₂, WSe₂, BP) primarily using electrochemical exfoliation.
  • Optimise nanosheet properties including aspect ratio, defect density, and yield.
  • Prepare and deposit 2DM inks using appropriate printing methods (e.g. liquid-liquid interfacial deposition, inkjet, aerosol jet).
  • Characterise both nanosheets and networks using microscopy, spectroscopy, and electrical measurements.
  • Investigate charge transport mechanisms within the networks.
  • Fabricate and characterise nanosheet network based electronic devices eg TFTs.
  • Collaborate with project partners across Europe and contribute to joint experimental efforts.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to publications, reports, and presentations.
  • Manage local admin (e.g. report writing) within the project.
